The purpose of the study was the reconstruction – restoration of the shell in its original form and the addition of four floors for offices. According to the proposal, the building obtains a central atrium that penetrates from the ground level. The atrium has been placed at the intersection of the main building axes and the offices have access through corridors along the atrium’s perimeter.
The façade of the building extension has been carefully designed with appropriate profiles in the openings in order to avoid the reference to a specific historical identity and to make sure that the self-supporting structure appears light and not smashing the older conventional building.
